by Krzysztof Musiał
The artist captured the act of taking a selfie in the painting. The photograph is taken by a girl, in a pose stereotypically adopted by selfie takers. However, the shot that the painter has captured is distorted and there are even errors – glitches. The background is almost uniform, so we do not know whether the person only wants to photograph herself. The selfie, however, is intended as a self-portrait photograph, where the person taking the photograph is in the centre. It is also a sign of our times and a certain cultural phenomenon that the artist has noticed and immortalised.
The interesting composition creates an intriguing contrast to the idea of the selfie. While the selfie puts the man in the centre, the painter has placed the heroine at the bottom of the image. She takes up much less space than the background. This is an interesting procedure that deconstructs the anthropocentric idea of the selfie.

His painting centres around capturing the reality that is next to each of us. He devotes his attention to relationships, to accidental situations which at first glance are insignificant, but which ultimately turn out to be interesting and can say a lot about the human condition in the contemporary world. Musiał focuses on the moments that fill life, which we pass by indifferently.
