by Felipe Hueb
The work is a photographic collage in a surreal style and pastel colors. The topic of the work focuses on a dangerous tendency to take risks and andrenaline. The danger is symbolized by a shark floating in the sea sky, while temptation is symbolized by two half-naked women in defiant poses. “There is an inexorable attraction, a magnetic attraction, to things that our hearts know are bad for us.” – the artist writes. These are things we want, but reaching for them is dangerous, which stimulates us even more. This flash of excitement and adrenaline can prove addictive.
The work also asks about the limits of reason – is it worth the risk to reach for the desired thing? At the same time, it reminds us that we should always view beauty and temptation with an open mind and also be vigilant.
