by Jairo Guerrero
An incredibly engaging image of a woman holding a man’s head. The mysterious nature of the artwork leaves many ways for interpretation and raises many questions. Does the picture present lovers and love even after death? Or maybe the woman is a murderer, as evidenced by her slight smile? However, not much can be read, because the most important part – the face of a woman – is blurry, indistinct.
Through the dark colors, the use of black and red, the author obtained an effect that causes the anxiety in the viewer. The subject matter of the artwork itself brings to mind the theme of Judith beheading Holofernes. This reference to traditional painting shows the multi-threaded-ness of the artwork and the versatility of the artist himself.
